Cheers!

I'm pretty sure William has never eaten a green vegetable.  Ever.  In over two and a half years.  Until now.

Enter:  The green smoothie.

I've been coveting a nearly $400 Vitamix blender from Costco for this very purpose for a short while now, but I decided to give the ol' Cuisinart a try.  The spinach was a little chewy, but drinkable.  While I would entirely LOVE William to actually eat a veggie sometime in his life, for now, this works.  I'm pretty certain it will even offset the entire sleeve of Thin Mints I'm consuming as I write this blog post... right?

He actually asked for seconds.

  2. Will you share your green smoothie recipe? I've snuck spinach into our regular strawberry smoothies w/o the kids balking, but I've been intrigued by green smoothies for a while.

And Danny wouldn't touch any veggie except edamame until he was 3. He likes broccoli and carrot sticks now. He even eats a sugar snap pea or cucumber slice every now and then! Like "they" say, just keep offering!

  3. Aileen,
This one was plain whole milk yogurt, a banana, an entire bag of baby spinach, some fresh blueberries, and just enough milk to make the blender work. I didn't have anything frozen (including ice), but it was still tasty. I just made another one with spinach, frozen strawberries, and frozen banana, yogurt, and milk that I liked better - I prefer the icy taste better.

I'm brand new to the whole green smoothie thing - I googled it and had no idea there is a green smoothie/raw food movement out there. I just bought some kale and chard to try out, but I think that'll be about as crazy as I get. Do let me know if you come up with a recipe of your own!
